WHY WERE SHAH WALI ULLAH'S TEACHINGS SO IMPORTANT TO MUSLIMS?

BACKGROUND

Shah Wali Ullah was born shortly after the death of Aurangzeb. He grew up at a time when Muslims felt increasingly threatened and helpless.He can from a deeply religious family.

WHAT DID HE BELIEVE SHOULD BE ROLE OF ISLAM?

He believed that Islam should direct every aspects of life. Every aspect of life including political,economic and social behavior should all be guided by Islamic values.

WHAT WERE THE PROBLEMS FACING MUSLIMS?

He identified a number of problems facing the Muslims.They were in  piety conditions. All the control was in hands of Hindus also wealth and prosperity was their hands.

HOW DID HE INFLUENCE THE MUSLIMS?

He promoted his message through writings and education.He trained a number of students and sent them out to promote the message of harmony and unity. He translated Quran into simple Persian, the main language of educated Muslims at that time.His sons later translated Quran to Urdu. He urged the Muslims including those in neighboring countries, to unite in a military action to defeat their enemies.

WHY DID SHAH WALI ULLAH SPREAD HIS MESSAGE?

At that time there was lack of Islamic teachings in Muslims they were divided and disorganized, he restored their faith by reaffirming  the traditional values of their faith. His views provided an alternative reason for pride and optimism in Muslim community.
